Lori Jackson Black is a professional geneologist, public historian, and preservationist. She earned a BA in History at Columbia, an MA in Public History from American Military University, and has done postgraduate work at Boston University. She runs her own research company and co-founded the nonprofit Preservation Mathews, Inc. She is currently the project manager at the Fairfield Foundation working on the restoration of the Timberneck Farmhouse at Machicomoco State Park. She has co-authored several books and maintains her own website. She grew up in Washington state and moved to Mathews County in 2006. She and her husband, Jay have three children, and now split their time between Mathews and Waynesboro, VA. Lori enjoys concerts and traveling when she can find free time!
